SoLoCo - Funding our communities
SoLoCo is part of a new global wave of technology-driven fundraising. With our focus on supporting UK communities, SoloCo is an egalitarian and democratic funding vehicle, that hopes to be instrumental in influencing the current funding culture throughout the country.
Launching in August, our site enables members of the community to donate directly to a specific project within a given timescale. If the project doesn't reach its full target then the funds can be put towards match funding. Our aim is to give visibility to all sizes of charities big and small along with social enterprises and community groups and to give them the tools to connect with donors over a long period of time, thus helping their sustainability. An organisation is eligible if its activities benefit the community, it has an organisational bank account and it is based within and supports UK communities.
As an accessible and easy to use fundraising tool for the smallest groups to the largest organisations, SoLoCo aims to help to fund projects throughout the UK, connecting communities, donors and traditional funders to pursue local and national goals.
In order to understand crowdfunding better, we are running a series of workshops. The aim of the day is to show you how crowdfunding works, and to help you become a confident crowdfunder. We really hope that by the end of the day you come out feeling inspired and ready to inspire.

PQASSO - update
As it is now nearly 4 months since we had our PQASSO day at the SDS (Careers Scotland) office, we thought it might be an idea to have another get together to see how we are all getting on with PQASSO.
The next session is planned for 10.00am on Thursday the 13th October.
Venue: Chamber office in St. Boswells
The idea would be to have a relatively informal chat around issues, opportunities and challenges arising. Don’t worry if you have not been able to make much progress since April. We can explore any areas where further help is needed and we can report back on some of the developments taking place nationally.
